      That all depends on the extent of the injury to the blood vessel.

      The immediate reaction to the injury is the blood clot forming, which stops the bleeding, and this happens extremely quickly, in a matter of minutes, especially for small bumps and scrapes.

      The repair of the blood vessel wall happens a lot slower, taking hours and days.
