• Question: Instead of having haemoglobin to carry iron in a red blood cell, could you replace it with something else to carry antibiotics in the blood?

      Haemoglobin is responsible for carrying oxygen around our body therefore we would not be able to replace it

      However, research into synthetic blood substitutes is attempting to identify other alternatives which may allow oxygen to be transported around the body
