As my PhD involves patients in hospital, I am based between two locations.

Sometimes I work in the University (in my office or the labs), and sometimes in the hospital across the road from the Uni (on a ward or in the labs)

I work in a really great place actually. I’m really lucky. My building is a made entirely of glass so I am currently sat at my desk in the sunshine 🙂 and can just pop in and out of the lab to check on my experiments whenever I want. Even better there is a cake sale in the coffee room today, which always makes anything more enjoyable.

Although as a researcher I work for the University, I am actually based in a hospital nearby. The hospital has a whole floor dedicated to patient orientated research projects (offices + labs). For some experiments I need to use specialized equipment which are only found in (other) University buildings and I also attend meetings or seminars outside the hospital, usually 5-15min walk away.
