When I was 18yrs old I began studying Genetics at University. I graduated at the age of 21 so I guess I ‘officially’ became a scientist then – so 5 years

Unofficially, since my first science lesson in year 7 – so 15 years (gosh I feel old!)

Professionally, for 3 years, but I have been interested in science since I was at school.

I did a variety of subjects for GCSE, all the sciences (biology, chemistry, physics), maths as well as english, history, french , german and art. Then I specialised in science for my A levels which I took in Maths, Chemistry, Biology and Sports Science. I then specialised even further with my degree in Human Physiology (basically how the body works). And now I have been working full time as a scientist for 3 years for my PhD.

I was lucky that I narrowed down my interest gradually to find what I was most interested in.
